This is a photo of the Bounty Hunter Wine Bar in Napa, California night. Walking along the street, what I saw brought to mind a cinematic scene that you might see in a film noir. The main challenge I faced with this photo was trying to balance the light coming from the building with the surrounding ambient light.
The Bounty Hunter Wine Bar is housed in a historic 1880’s building in downtown Napa on 975 First Street near the Napa River. On most nights, you will find an eclectic mix of locals and visitors enjoying the bounty of Napa Valley.
The photo was taken with the Fuji X-Pro1 mirrorless APS-C rangefinder style digital camera, and Fuji XF 18-55 F2.8-4 R LM OIS lens at 6400 ISO. While the relatively low noise at 6400 ISO is impressive, it does seem that Fuji’s X-Trans sensor is not as sensitive to light as other digital cameras. I suspect this could have been taken at 3200 ISO on a Canon, Nikon, Sony, or Leica. Despite this shortcoming, Fuji’s colors are very impressive and are usually true to life.
